Can pH electrodes and ORP electrodes be used interchangeably?

No, pH electrodes and ORP electrodes cannot be used interchangeably because their materials, measurement principles, and application environments are completely different.

How often should a pH electrode be calibrated?

The calibration interval for a pH electrode depends on the specific process. The more stable the process conditions (temperature, pressure, composition, absence of fouling, etc.), the more stable the pH measurement will be, and the longer the calibration interval can be. Most pH electrodes are calibrated once a week or once a month; based on experience, longer or shorter calibration intervals are also possible. To ensure accuracy, it is best to start with more frequent calibrations and then gradually extend the calibration intervals.

What is the function of a pH meter?

An industrial online pH meter is a microprocessor-based instrument for online water quality monitoring and control. This instrument is configured with different types of pH electrodes. It continuously monitors and controls the pH (acidity/alkalinity), and temperature of aqueous solutions.

How Long Does a Ph Electrode Last? How Can Its Lifespan Be Extended?

There is no fixed standard for the lifespan of a pH electrode; it depends on the brand, model, and operating environment. Generally, replacement is needed every 1–2 years, depending on frequency of use—the primary reason being that the resistance of the electrode’s glass bulb increases over time. Excessively high resistance can cause the electrode to malfunction and prevent the pH meter from calibrating properly.

To extend its service life, avoid the following: frequent use, chemical corrosion, extreme temperatures, and physical damage. It is recommended to strictly follow the user manual, perform regular calibration and maintenance, and minimize unnecessary wear and tear.
